Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10 p.m.

RICHMOND, Va. -- SEVERE T-STORM WATCH in effect until 10 p.m.

Scattered storms will develop across western Virginia and then track into central Virginia this evening. Storms may be strong to severe with damaging wind gusts. The threat in the metro will increase after 5 p.m. Storms will decrease late this evening by around midnight. Due to the muggy conditions, locally heavy rainfall totals in excess of 2 inches will be possible.

A Heat Advisory is in effect into this evening. The heat index may exceed 105 at times.

A cold front will move through the area Thursday, . More showers and storms will be around, with higher chances in southern and southeastern Virginia. It won't be as hot, with highs 85-90.

Friday will be less humid with highs in the mid to upper 80s. An isolated shower is possible in a few spots.

Muggy air returns this weekend into next week. Highs will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Scattered storms are possible each day.
