GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Tuesday’s severe weather left significant damage across western Massachusetts, particularly in Hampshire and Franklin Counties.
22News received reports of trees and wires down here, especially in the Northeast section of the city. There were many pictures from viewers of dramatic sky and clouds as the storm rolled through from Greenfield, Montague, and Middlefield.

There were trees and wires down all over town including blocking the northbound lanes of I-91, those were cleared Wednesday morning. Crews have been working all night to get as much cleaned up as they can and restore as much power as they can.
A number of people sent 22News photos describing it like a tornado though that has not been confirmed yet. The National Weather Service will be in western Massachusetts on Wednesday surveying the storm damage to determine if a tornado touched down. 22News will keep you updated on their findings.
More than 10,500 people statewide are still without power Wednesday morning. At one point Tuesday night, more than 20,000 people statewide lost power, mostly in Berkshire and Franklin Counties.
Some of the worst outages were reported in Goshen, New Salem, and Athol, as well as Williamstown and Clarksburg in the Berkshires. Those towns and cities were 100 percent without power at one point Tuesday night.
