The recently released Presumed Innocent Episode 7 has once again caused a buzz among fans due to its startling ending. In the penultimate chapter of the limited series, we see Rusty taking over the mantle from an ailing Raymond and fighting for himself in the trial. Multiple blows are exchanged as the two opposing lawyers lock horns in the court. However, a particular incident towards the final moments angers all the fans. But what happened at the end of Presumed Innocent Episode 7?

Here is a complete recap and explanation of the ending of Presumed Innocent Episode 7.

What happened at the end of Presumed Innocent Episode 7?

As the chapter is about to conclude, viewers find out that a mysterious figure has broken into Tommy Molto’s house. The unidentified invader also left two concerning souvenirs on his kitchen counter, leading to a flurry of queries.

The episode opens with Rusty and his team dealing with the aftermath of Raymond’s sudden stroke. In his absence, Rusty decides to represent himself, upsetting Mya. As the trial resumes, Rusty confronts Michael about his prejudice against his mother’s lover. He manages to get a reaction from both Michael and Dalton after he expresses his concerns about the former being the actual killer. Consequently, Rusty ends his argument by painting Michael as an unstable witness in Presumed Innocent Episode 7.

Nevertheless, Tommy retaliates by bringing Rigo to the stand and attempts to demonstrate that Rusty has manhandled the case. He also claims that Rusty tends to lose his temper. While the accused manages to vouch for his innocence, Tommy succeeds in suggesting that Rusty’s hot-headed personality could’ve led him to murder Carolyn.

Towards the end of Presumed Innocent Episode 7, a proud Tommy returns to his home, only to find that it has been broken into. The scene concludes with him finding the murder weapon and a threatening note on his kitchen slab.

Who invaded Tommy Molto’s house in Presumed Innocent Episode 7?

At the time of writing, the identity of the person who invaded Tommy Molto’s house is still a mystery.

One theory suggests that Tommy killed Carolyn. The trespasser could’ve discovered the truth and committed this act at the end of Presumed Innocent Episode 7 to scare him away. The invader could be Rusty or one of his sympathizers if this stands true.

Another hypothesis indicates that this could be the work of the real killer. ( SPOILER WARNING ) As mentioned in the book, the crime is committed by none other than Rusty’s wife, Barbara. If the same narrative is followed in the miniseries, Barbara could’ve broken into Tommy’s house to plant the evidence against him, or she could be mocking him for failing to track down the actual perpetrator.

With one episode still to come in the series, anything could happen before Presumed Innocent ends. The finale is scheduled to premiere on July 24, 2024.
