Severe storms carrying damaging winds, rain, and lightning tracked over eastern Pennsylvania on Tuesday, July 16, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

Footage taken by @SpeedOfficial_ shows a vivid lightning strike in Delaware County.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a line of severe thunderstorms was moving eastward with 60 mph wind gusts and a “history of producing wind damage across the warned area.”

The NWS reminded residents in the area to get inside “immediately” due to the lightning threat.

“Lightning is one of nature’s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning,” the NWS warned.

As of 10 pm, more than 155,600 people were without power in Pennsylvania, according to outage trackers.
