    Flood watch for Columbus cancelled by NWS

    A flood watch issued Tuesday morning for Columbus and several surrounding counties was canceled Tuesday night by the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

    At 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, NWS canceled the flood watch for Franklin, Butler, Clinton, Fairfield, Fayette, Greene, Licking, Madison, Pickaway and Warren counties after the flash flooding threat ended, according to an NWS bulletin.

    Forecasters initially predicted up to an inch of rain could fall on Columbus Tuesday night, but as of 8 p.m. Tuesday, only trace amounts of precipitation were detected, according to data from NWS Wilmington.

    Up to half an inch of rain is still forecasted to fall during the day Wednesday.

    Here's what you can expect for the rest of the week.

    • Today: Showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. It'll be cloudy, with a high near 84. The chance of precipitation is 60%. Rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.
    • Tonight: There's a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m., then there's a slight chance of showers between 11 p.m. and midnight. It'll be mostly cloudy with a low around 62. The chance of precipitation is 20%.
    • Thursday: It'll be mostly sunny with a high near 79.
    • Thursday Night: It'll be mostly clear with a low around 58.
    • Friday: It'll be sunny with a high near 82.
    • Friday Night: It'll be mostly clear with a low around 60.
    • Saturday: It'll be sunny with a high near 85.
    • Saturday Night: It'll be mostly clear with a low around 63.
    • Sunday: It'll be mostly sunny with a high near 87.
    • Sunday Night: It'll be partly cloudy with a low around 66.
