Anthony Edwards spoke recently with the Today Show ahead of Team USA's trip to Paris for the Olympics. He noted that he could easily defeat any of his teammates in swimming, and even mentioned Devin Booker, Jrue Holiday, and Tyrese Haliburton, and gave specific reasons as to why he would be able to defeat them in a race.

"Freestyle. I'm fast too, though. [Fastest swimmer] on the team? For sure. They ain't no swimmers. We got Joel 'Big' Embiid, you got AD and Bam, they ain't swimming fast. Bron, he ain't swimming fast."

"KD, Kawhi, and Tatum, they not swimming fast at all. My only challengers are - Book, when he might not know how to swim. Jrue, he might drown. And Haliburton, oh my god. If Haliburton beat me then I just need to never touch the water again."

Edwards gave both a sound, yet hilarious explanation as to why he would easily defeat his teammates in a race. Perhaps Team USA can use the facilities in Paris to find out who the fastest swimmer on the team is. This might not happen, as the entire squad is focused on winning the gold medal at the tournament.

Team USA are looking to win their fifth consecutive gold medal at the Olympics this year. They assembled an incredible roster this year, as a response to their poor performance at last year's FIBA World Cup, where they were humiliated by Germany in the semi-finals, and even missed out on third place, losing to Canada.

Anthony Edwards Has Been A Menace With Team USA

Anthony Edwards was spotted making fun of Tyrese Haliburton's jump shot recently during Team USA practice. The two players were clearly having fun with each other, and it didn't seem like Haliburton was particularly offended by Edwards' jokes. It was good to see the camaraderie between the two players at that moment.

Building strong relationships with his USA basketball teammates is actually a priority for Edwards , who spoke about how much fun he is having doing so. He even added that he isn't focused on trash-talking, but just on having fun and forging memories with his teammates.

Edwards may be having fun before games and during practice, but on the court, it is serious business for him. He confidently stated that he was the number one option for Team USA , a bold move considering his teammates include LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant.

But Edwards doubled down on his statement . Edwards isn't even the only player to make this claim about himself, as Jaylen Brown also called Edwards the first option for Team USA, despite having three of his Celtics teammates on the squad.

Paul Pierce also called Edwards the leader of Team USA . We are seeing one of the best players in the NBA taking that next leap into superstardom. And the fact that Edwards has kept both his humor and attitude intact during this leap has made him incredibly beloved among fans.
