Supercomputer predicts final Premier League table and Liverpool's position

Liverpool will finish the 2024/25 Premier League season in third place according to predictions from a supercomputer .

The Reds get their domestic campaign started by travelling to newly promoted Ipswich Town on August 17th in what will be Arne Slot's first competitive game in charge of Liverpool following Jurgen Klopp's departure. But while there is no doubt it will take Liverpool supporters some time to adjust to Slot given the attachment to Klopp, the Reds are predicted to enjoy a reasonably successful season.

Grosvenor Sport's Supercomputer predicts Slot and Liverpool will finish third in the Premier League during the upcoming season, with Arsenal and Manchester City finishing above them in second and first respectively.

The Supercomputer "works as a probability model to predict the outcome of every single Premier League match" which it then simulates 1,000 times. It takes into account recent moves in the transfer market as well as other outside factors too, with the final set of results from Grosvenor's based on an average of the 1,000 Premier League table simulations.

Alongside Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal, Manchester United are also predicted to finish inside the top four this season, which is an eye-brow raising prediction given their eighth placed finish last term. Erik ten Hag's side were 12-points worse off than Liverpool last season, but are predicted to make a big turnaround this term.

Would third place be a successful season for Liverpool under Arne Slot? Let us know in the comments section below.

When it comes to points totals, the Supercomputer predicts Man City will finish with 94 points, Arsenal with 86, Liverpool with 80 and Man United with 71. If those predictions are accurate, it would see City improve by three points, while Arsenal and Liverpool in second and third would be three and two points worse off.

Chelsea, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Newcastle United are expected to finish fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth respectively, with Brentford rounding out the top 10.

And the Supercomputer also predicts Nottingham Forest, Wolves and Ipswich will be relegated this term, meaning newly promoted Southampton and Leicester City will stay up this season.
