Jonah M. is a self-proclaimed Amazon superfan who maps out Prime Day like it’s Black Friday. “This is for sure the biggest shopping day of the year for me,” he told GOBankingRates.
With careful planning and strategic shopping, Jonah is aiming to save $824 and bring home some mega-deals. Here’s how he’s planning on doing it.
Deal sites aggregate the best offers, helping shoppers spot the deepest discounts quickly.
“I’ve bookmarked DealNews and similar sites, and I’ll be refreshing them constantly during Prime Day,” he said. “Because things are constantly changing, I can’t count on myself to catch all the deals!”
When it comes to finding the best deals, Jonah has a secret weapon on YouTube.
“ The Deal Guy’s Prime Day videos are honestly a godsend,” he said. “I don’t even know this guy’s name, but he is the king when it comes to insider tips and hidden deals that aren’t widely advertised. I’ll keep his videos up all day.”
Make a Prioritized Wish List
“I’ve already created a detailed list of items I want, ranked by priority,” said Jonah. “That way I can avoid temptation — unless something is an amazing deal.”
Here are some of the items Jonah has his eye on:
Samsonite Luggage: Estimated $150 (Saving $266 at up to 64% off)
“Not a lot of people use the wishlist feature these days, but it’s super helpful when it comes to Prime Day,” said Jonah.
The Amazon superfan has added all of his most desired items to his Amazon Wishlist and will keep the page open on Prime Day. That way, if something goes on sale that he might not have noticed before, he can jump on it.
Set Deal Alerts
Jonah said he likes to have a bunch of methods to make sure he doesn’t miss anything. One of those precautions? Deal alerts.
“I’ve set up deal alerts via my wishlist using Amazon’s app,” Jonah shared. “This way, I’ll get notified immediately if anything I want goes on sale.”
Compare Prices Across Retailers
“Shopping on Prime Day can be addictive,” said Jonah. “But before I click buy on anything, I’m making sure it’s not on another site for cheaper.”
Jonah added that sometimes competitors offer matching or better deals specifically on Prime Day, so it quite literally pays to check.
Consider Amazon Warehouse Deals
“Before I buy, I always check Amazon Warehouse for even deeper discounts on open-box or slightly used items,” Jonah said. “Sometimes, these deals are better than the new item discounts.”
Utilize Amazon’s Credit Card Offers
Jonah has an Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card and will use it for an additional 5% cash back on all purchases. This is true superfan behavior!
Take Advantage of Free Kindle Books
Jonah reminds everyone to check for all the free e-books and download, download, download! “They’ll put some popular titles up for free, so don’t forget to check!”
Stack Coupons When Possible
“I’m not sure if this will work, but I’ll have my coupons ready to be able to stack deals for maximum savings,” Jonah said.
