On July 12, a family lost their beloved pet after sending her for a grooming session. The dog died while under the care of the groomers. However, during the investigation, police found several stashes of drugs and arrested the business owner on the spot. The suspect is now facing drug charges, with a possibility of being charged with more once it is determined how the pup passed away.

New Jersey groomers face drug charges after dog dies in their care

On Friday, a groomer was arrested and charged after a dog died in his facility in Gloucester County, New Jersey. He is in jail for drug charges, resisting arrest, and tampering with evidence. The authorities are still looking into the passing of the canine, following which they may add more charges.

The pup’s family didn’t expect their beloved pet to devastatingly pass away when they sent her in for a grooming session. According to Fox 29 , the canine was doing well when handed over. However, two hours later, they received a call from the business owner that their dog had died while at the groomers.

The pup named Harley was a 3-year-old Border Collie . Her owner recalled that she was energetic and loved running around. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach and riding the family boat. Unfortunately, the business K9 Kingdom didn’t provide any explanation and simply informed them about her death.

The police promptly started their investigation and found 60 baggies of a white powdery drug that they believe is heroin. Ashley Jenkins, Harley’s owner, exclaimed, “I am just very angry…I just want to get justice for her. I want him to never ever touch another dog ever again.”

A necropsy is scheduled to be performed on the late pet, which the authorities hope will shed light on what caused her death. Jenkins stated that Harley’s passing has left a hole in her heart, and she used the opportunity to remind pet owners to be wary of who they are leaving their furry companions with.
