    Woman killed, children injured in rollover crash in Christian County

    CHRISTIAN COUNY, Ky. (WKRN) — A 21-year-old woman was killed and three passengers were injured in a rollover crash in Christian County Tuesday.

    The single-vehicle crash happened around 4:50 p.m. on Russellville Road near Vaughns Grove Little River Road in the Pembroke community.

    According to the crash report provided by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Laqway Matthews was driving a 2005 Ford Explorer between 65 and 80 mph when the SUV crossed into the westbound lanes and overturned at least three times.

    Matthews was thrown from the SUV and and paramedics attempted to have her flown to the hospital from the crash scene but were unable to due to the extent of her injuries. She was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center where she died.

    An 8-year-old boy and 3-year-old girl who were passengers in the SUV were flown to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt for treatment of lacerations and further evaluation. Neither child was wearing a seat belt nor a car seat, according to the crash report.

    A 22-year-old man in the passenger seat was taken to JSMC for cuts on his hands, face and legs.

    No additional information was immediately released.
