“That’s How It’s Done”: Cody Johnson Absolutely Crushes National Anthem Rendition at MLB All-Star Game

Spending nearly 20 years on the stage, Cody Johnson knows the importance of entertaining a crowd. Given the right setting and fans, a concert can become a special experience. Although loving the job of entertaining fans all over the world, singers constantly worry about slipping up or forgetting lyrics. But no matter the pre-show jitters, nothing compares to having to sing the National Anthem. With the song carrying so much weight, it has become somewhat of a milestone for singers to cover the iconic anthem. And for Johnson, he dazzled at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game with a flawless performance.

Besides getting the chance to sing the song for the MLB All-Star game, the performance was a special occasion as it took place in his home state of Texas. Fashioned with a cowboy hat, the country star proved the full range of his voice with a heartfelt performance that left the entire crowd roaring in excitement.

Bringing in over 74,000 likes, fans consistently praised Johnson for his cover of the National Anthem. “Now that’s the beautiful way our beloved National Anthem should be sung!” One person added, “I like when they just sing the damn song like that rather than trying to turn it into some kind of opus.”

As Country Chord put it, “That’s how it’s done.”

Cody Johnson Received Different Reaction Than Ingrid Andress

Outside of Johnson gaining praise from fans, Ingrid Andress received a completely different reaction when she sang the National Anthem during the Home Run Derby. A country singer herself, Andress appeared out of sorts during her performance.

With fans labeling it the worst performance ever, Andress decided to speak out, admitting she was intoxicated during the song. “I’m not gonna bulls–t y’all, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.”

While fans roasted Andress, one offered a different look, writing “People being hateful but I just saw fear, panic and this sense of unease about being on that field at that moment in your eyes. I could feel the absolute anxiety and terror.”
