Dani Olmo transfer: Fourth club come from nowhere to enter transfer race

A fourth club has entered the race for Spain Euro 2024 star Dani Olmo , who Liverpool has been linked with this summer .

Atletico Madrid is now reportedly interested in the midfielder, who played a key part in helping Luis de la Fuente's side claim their fourth European Championship crowd in Germany. Olmo had been featuring off the bench for Spain during the tournament, but an injury to Barcelona ace Pedri led to the 26-year-old being thrust onto centre stage.

And once there, Olmo shone. Against Germany, he came on to replace Pedri, scoring for Spain to give them the lead. While Germany equalised right at the death to send the game to extra-time, it was Olmo's quality delivery that found the head of Mikel Merino, who scored the winner for Spain.

He also scored in the semi-final against France, and produced a stellar performance against England in the final. And with a release fee clause of $65m (£52m/€60m), clubs across Europe are now circling the midfielder who could be on the move this summer.

Liverpool has been heavily linked with Olmo, alongside Barcelona and Manchester City. However, another club are keen on landing the talented midfielder this summer, with Atletico Madrid reportedly having already held talks with the Spain star.

BILD report Atletico Madrid would like to bring Olmo back to Spain. The RB Leipzig midfielder came through the ranks at Barcelona having joined them from city rivals Espanyol at nine. However, he opted to join Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia at 16 and has been abroad ever since, moving to RB Leipzig in 2020.

And with the Spaniard's release fee clause set to expire on Saturday, clubs interest in Olmo will have to act decisively this week if they want to sign the midfielder. Failure to trigger his release fee clause this summer would allow Leipzig to demand way more money than the $65m (£52m/€60m) it would cost to exercise the existing clause.

His contract also runs until 2027 too, meaning the Bundesliga club has a stronger hand when it comes to negotiating a sale for Olmo.
