If you haven’t yet seen a video of Kate Middleton receiving a standing ovation at Wimbledon earlier this week, then we recommend you go search and watch it. After all, in addition to seeing the Princess of Wales beaming with joy in her chic purple dress , the audience’s reaction to her return is enough to make anyone at least a little emotional.

Indeed, the moment meant a lot, both to her supporters and the Princess as well. “This will have given her sustenance,” a palace insider told People of her surprise appearance. As a reminder, Middleton was joined by her daughter Charlotte and her sister Pippa as they watched the men’s singles final game on July 14 and awarded the trophy to the winner, Carlos Alcaraz.

“She has gone through something awful and stressful, and it is crucial to have little wins to look forward to or to give you the courage and energy to go forward,” the source continued. “And this was it.”

Pippa Middleton, Princess Charlotte of Wales, Catherine Princess of Wales during the men’s final on day fourteen of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships on July 14, 2024, in London, England.

With a newfound pep in her step after her appearance, sources are thinking she might readjust how she’s thinking about her upcoming calendar .

Prior to this, it seems Middleton completely changed her mindset surrounding her royal duties. “It’s good not to feel under pressure and just take her time and have slow days if she needs to,” royal source Robert Jobson said of the Princess’ work during her cancer treatment.

“Before, she used to live her life by the calendar, and now she is living her life, and the calendar comes in after,” Jobson added. “She will be back, but when you have had an experience like this, it changes your perspective and the order of things.”

So while Middleton had been prioritizing her recovery time, and putting her work in the back-burner for the time being, it seems Wimbledon might’ve given her the strength she needed. Whether she does change her priorities or not, we’re just glad Wimbledon continued to be such a highlight for her!
