Wedding ceremony held at Henrico senior living community in dedication to resident

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A wedding ceremony was held at a senior living community in Henrico County in a special moment dedicated to a resident.

On Saturday, June 15, a ceremony was held at The Westmont at Short Pump senior living community for resident Ilse Smith’s grandson to exchange vows with his new wife “in a special moment dedicated to Ilse.”

According to a spokesperson, the couple, Conner and Dani, plan to go to Italy for a destination wedding in September, but held the surprise ceremony to involve Conner’s grandmother Ilse in their celebration due to her inability to travel.

At the ceremony, the couple exchanged vows, performed a formal cutting of a wedding cake and enjoyed a celebration with close family in the courtyard of the senior living community.

The event was part of a company-wide WOW moment initiative where The Westmont at Short Pump creates personalized experiences to check items off a resident’s bucket list, reminisce on the past or honor them in some way.
