ROGUE SPY: CIA Analyst Indicted, Accused of Influencing US Decisions on South Korea

A renowned former CIA employee, Sue Mi Terry, has been indicted for sharing privileged information about the United States with officials in South Korea .

Knewz.com has learned that this alleged betrayal was perpetrated to influence American policy for the benefit of the allied Asian country.

The New York court documents claim that these infractions were executed clandestinely, with Terry failing to register as a foreign agent, and that she thereby committed a criminal offense.

“At the direction of ROK [Republic of Korea] Government officials, Terry advocated ROK policy positions, including in published articles and during media appearances, disclosed nonpublic U.S. Government information to ROK intelligence officers, and facilitated access for ROK Government officials to U.S. Government officials,” the indictment reads.

Her crimes are said to have been perpetrated as early as 2013 after she left the CIA for a job as a foreign diplomat at the United Nations .

During this tenure, she interacted with some of the highest-ranking South Korean officials and supposedly used this opportunity to fortify relations between herself and said country’s administration.

One instance where Terry was accused of exploiting her position was when she attended an unofficial closed-door briefing on South Korea with Secretary of State Antony Blinken in June 2022.

During the meeting, she is said to have taken detailed notes and passed them on to her “handler”.

Another report indicates that Terry confessed her wrongdoing to the FBI —but when this confession was made is not clear.

During the same year, it was noted, Terry appeared in front of Congress and swore under oath that she was not acting as a foreign agent.

Nevertheless, the indictment claimed Terry was “gifted” $37,000 in a bank account that she controlled, expensive meals at Michelin Star restaurants, along with an eye-wateringly expensive $3,450 Louis Vuitton handbag and a $2,845 Dolce & Gabbana coat.

Following the indictment, Terry was placed on administrative leave by her employer, the Council on Foreign Relations, with a spokesperson for the organization, Iva Zorić, saying:

“We take these allegations very seriously.”

Her lawyer, Lee Wolosky, has since dubbed the indictment as “unfounded”, claiming that it “distort[s] the work of a scholar and news analyst known for her independence and years of service to the United States .”

“In fact, she was a harsh critic of the South Korean government during times this indictment alleges that she was acting on its behalf,” Wolosky asserted.

“Once the facts are made clear it will be evident the government made a significant mistake,” Wolosky said via Sky News .

South Korea has since acknowledged the scandal and said: “The intelligence authorities of South Korea and the United States are in close communication regarding the indictment related to the Foreign Agents Registration Act.”

Notably, although a U.S. citizen, Terry was born in South Korea.
