American professional basketball player John Wall.

John Wall hasn't played in the NBA since Jan. 13, 2023 . He sat out all of last season. The veteran guard has struggled with injuries since 2018. However, when healthy, he's still a highly effective guard at the NBA level.

On Tuesday, footage of Wall working out in front of Darvin Ham, now an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks, emerged.

"I’m not giving up on my dreams of getting back into the league," Wall told ESPN on Monday. "I know it’s a lot of stuff that I dealt with, with injuries. My focus is to still work hard and come here and network and be around teams. Whatever role it is, I’m willing to accept. If it’s going to a team and being a vet and teaching the young guys how to be a point guard, just to help, that’s a development I’m willing to do."

Wall, 33, may not have the elite first step and explosion around the rim he displayed during his prime, but he will undoubtedly still be a high-level passer and point-of-attack defender.

He's also experienced enough to understand how to manipulate a defense when running the pick-and-roll. A contending team looking for guard depth could be tempted to roll the dice on Wall's health for the upcoming season.

However, Wall may also attract interest from young, rebuilding teams. As a true NBA veteran, he could assume a leadership role on the bench . If he's willing to accept limited playing time, multiple teams around the NBA could see value in his presence on the roster; the Detroit Pistons are a prime example.

Injuries forced Wall out of the league. Now that he's fully recovered, he deserves the chance to have one final run in the NBA and to bow out on his terms. He will undoubtedly be hoping that his recent workouts have piqued the interest of front offices around the league and that the phone starts ringing in the coming weeks.
