Serena Williams' Husband Reveals Battle With Surprising Health Diagnosis

Tennis star Serena Williams ' husband Alexis Ohanian made a surprising discovery while going through a number of health tests, revealing online that he was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease.

The 41-year-old took to X to share the news in detail, beginning with the message, "Doing a full battery of health scans, tests, etc, and found out I have lyme disease. Wild. No symptoms, thankfully, but gonna treat."

After sharing some specifics of his health, such as the fact he has to "work on" lowering his bad cholesterol, he reacted to the diagnosis, saying, "I've got a loved one who had it a few years back, showed tons symptoms etc and just couldn't figure it out until they tested him for it and then found it (treated it successfully, too)."

"I spend so little time in the wilderness/northeast this was quite a surprise. Anyway, gonna grab some antibiotics — can't keep me down, tick!" the entrepreneur concluded, going on to tell others to visit their doctors if they had any questions about their own health.

Fans and friends shared support for Ohanian and positivity that he will be fine throughout and after treatment. Lyme disease can generally be cured if the person receives antibiotics early on, but the American Medical Association noted, "It can cause prolonged symptoms if left untreated and sometimes even despite effective treatment, a phenomenon which is not well understood."

From what Ohanian has shared, doctors likely caught the disease early, but it remains to be seen how his body will react to treatment and if there will be long-term symptoms that some people experience even after antibiotic treatment.

Other celebrities who have been open about suffering from Lyme disease are Bella Hadid , Justin Bieber and Shania Twain , among others.

Ohanian's wife, Williams, has not commented on the news of his diagnosis. The couple shares two daughters, Olympia and Adira , with the youngest born last August.
