    I-55 reopened in Will County after severe storms caused downed power lines on roadway

    CHANNAHON, Ill. —  Interstate 55 has reopened in both directions between U.S. 6 and River Road in Will County after downed power lines caused closures for two days due to Monday night’s severe weather.

    ComEd had deployed numerous heavy equipment and 16 bulldozers to assist with cleanup of the roadway.

    The westbound lanes of River Road remain closed from Route 35 to I-55.

    Police were called to the scene just after 9:20 p.m. Monday and found downed power lines and a crash. Five vehicles, including two semi trucks, were involved. Two people suffered minor injuries.
