Tom Hardy names his favorite Irish actors who have ‘impressed’ over the years

Tom Hardy recently revealed which Irish actors he has always been a fan of . The British actor is rumored to take on the iconic role of James Bond in the newest bond movie.

In an interview with Joe.ie, Hardy sat down with his co-stars from the new film, The Bikeriders. He stars alongside Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, and Mike Faist of Challengers .

When asked about their favorite Irish actors, Hardy did not have to think for long .

“There’s a lot of great Irish actors… and not so great,” he joked, laughing. “I’ve always been really fond of Colin Farrell , because he is a brilliant actor .”

Despite having a career-crush on the Irish actor, Hardy and Farrell have only starred in the same movie once - Guy Ritchie’s hugely successful 2019 movie The Gentleman. Additionally, both actors were considered for the 2012 reboot of Total Recall, but the Irish heart-throb ultimately took the part.

Hardy also gave an “obvious” shout out to Hollywood’s Best Actor 2024, Cillian Murphy , whom he famously dueled with in Peaky Blinders, when Hardy took on the role of Alfie Solomons. The cast for the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie has not yet been released, but Hardy has predicted that he will be making an appearance.

“One hundred per cent, Alfie will definitely make an appearance, but I don’t know when,” he said, then admitting, “And I don’t even know if he will, that’s just me punting.”

The Bikeriders’ director, Jeff Nichols, gave a shout out to another Irish star, who he previously worked with.

“I have to say Ruth Negga,” Nichols said. “She was tremendous to work with.”
