Michelle Obama has attracted investments from Stephen and Ayesha Curry.

The former First Lady of the United States is the founder of PLEZi Nutrition, a company designed to reshape the food industry and provide healthier drinks and snack alternatives for children, according to its website. Its inaugural product is a drink called PLEZi, made with fewer sugars and more nutrients like fiber and potassium.

The company’s mission is now being fueled through an investment from Stephen and Ayesha Curry, who now serve as investors and brand partners, per a news release.

“We’re so excited to welcome Stephen and Ayesha Curry to the PLEZi Nutrition family,” said former First Lady Michelle Obama , co-founder and strategic partner of PLEZi Nutrition, in a news release. “They are true role models. They’re extraordinary at what they do and how they go about their work — with creativity, integrity, and a whole lot of fun. Their commitment to bettering the lives of children and their dedication to promoting healthy lifestyles align perfectly with our vision for PLEZi Nutrition. We can’t wait to team up with them to inspire the next generation toward healthier choices.”

The Curry family has already committed to improving children’s futures as co-founders of the Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation.

As AFROTECH™ previously reported, the foundation announced a plan to build 150 libraries across Oakland, CA, to increase financial literacy.

The foundation’s mission is to provide reading resources to children, access to nutritious meals, and opportunities to be active, per its website. With this new partnership, the Curry family’s foundation can actively work to better outcomes for children by promoting more active lifestyles and increasing access to more nutritious meals.

“Our kids were the ones that drove our decision to partner with PLEZi Nutrition. PLEZi passed the taste test, and they couldn’t stop drinking it,” Stephen and Ayesha Curry commented in the press release. “ This is important, because it’s our job as parents (and as a culture) to show our kids that health and wellness can be exciting. Food should be joyful, and by teaming up with PLEZi Nutrition, we’re furthering our mission to provide healthier, delicious options for families — making balanced nutrition a fun, easy, and accessible part of everyday life.”
