Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith rightfully denounced President Joe Biden’s Oval Office address in a fiery YouTube video released on Monday. The iconic pundit’s unapologetic rant represents our culture’s increased disdain for Biden and his patronizing leadership style.
Biden gave an Oval Office address Sunday night following the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on Saturday.
“My fellow Americans, I want to speak to you tonight about the need for us to lower the temperature in our politics and to remember: While we may disagree, we are not enemies,” Biden began his speech.
Smith rightfully interpreted the quote as laying the blame at the feet of the public. The rhetorical usage of the phrase “you” does imply that it is somehow the people’s fault that “the political climate in our country” has “gotten very heated.” Biden’s call for unity is comical, given how he recently told donors that it’s time “to put Trump in a bullseye.” That’s not to mention his constant claims that the former president is a “threat to democracy” and the fact that most of his campaign is predicated upon anti-Trump rhetoric. The far Left has gone even further by comparing Trump to Adolf Hitler amid claims that he would become a dictator.
Smith was spot on when he ripped into Biden’s hypocrisy on the Stephen A. Smith Show . Most of our toxic political culture stems from a media environment that purposefully feeds one-sided arguments, though the public is arguably complicit as well. Smith doesn’t “disagree with that sentiment” but said people have simply been following the lead of the media and our public officials.
Smith’s iconic, bold personality was on full display when he countered Biden by saying: “I’ll be damned if I don’t disagree, or I don’t at least have a problem, rather, with the politicians and the pundits who have the audacity, the unmitigated gall to stick their big faces in front of a camera and think they get to lecture us when they’re the ones who instigate all of this! It’s them!”
Smith is undoubtedly one of the most culturally significant members of the sports media. Sports Illustrated and Complex listed him as the second-most influential and entertaining sports commentator in the country, respectively. He wields massive influence and has the power to reach a wide, disproportionately apolitical audience. Amid Biden’s ever-plummeting approval rating , hilarious yet accurate rants such as this one have the power to highlight the president’s unpleasant nature further.

Our culture is shifting. Democrats such as Smith have become disenfranchised due to the 81-year-old president’s behavior and lack of respect for the public. Smith’s take on the Oval Office address perfectly encapsulates Biden’s disconnect with the country and how he continues to dig his own grave by alienating his constituents. Rather than blaming the people, Biden should look inward and reflect upon the impact of his campaign’s constant condemnation of Trump and his supporters.
Smith spoke volumes to the president’s predicament, adding, “If you are President Biden, boy, do you got your work cut out for you now.”
