( KRON ) — A bomb team from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office responded Tuesday to the Ben Lomond Transfer Station after an old military ordnance was found, authorities said.

The sheriff's office bomb team confirmed that the ordnance, which appeared in photos to measure around two feet in length, was still intact. The Travis Air Force Base Explosive Ordnance Disposal was called in to assist.

The fuse and the propellant inside the ordnance were still intact, officials said after further inspection. However, there was no explosive material present.

The Travis Air Force EOD team safely transported the ordnance away from the waste processing site for disposal.

"Handling ordnance is dangerous until declared safe by experts," the sheriff's office said. Officials reminded the community to contact law enforcement if any military ordinances are found.
