Johnny Puff: Secret Mission is a new animated movie starring Johnny Depp that is currently playing in select United States theaters. The film is being released on VOD on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
In the exclusive featurette video, Depp discusses his role in the animated movie. “There’s something beautiful about this particular piece, Puffins. I love that it’s explicitly made for little, little ones. I think there’s no need for language; it’s just expression, emotion, and fun.”

What is Johnny Puff: Secret Mission about?
“Johnny Depp soars to new heights of adventure with Johnny Puff! When the dastardly Otto von Walrus threatens to plunge the world into icy chaos, it’s up to Johnny Puff (Depp) and his feathered friends to put a stop to his frosty plans,” the official synopsis reads.
Depp originally voiced Johnny Puff in the animated television series Puffins, which is a spin-off to 2019’s Arctic Dogs. A spin-off to Puffins, titled Puffins Impossible, was released in April 2022.
Depp has also voiced characters in various animated movies in the past, including Victor Van Dort in 2005’s Corpse Bride, the titular chameleon in 2011’s Rango, and Sherlock Gnomes in the 2018 sequel to Gnomeo & Juliet.
The new Johnny Puff film is written and directed by Néstor F. Dennis. Along with Depp, Drew Crosby lends his voice to the cast of the animated movie. It is executive produced by Monika Bacardi and Andrea Iervolino, with Denis and Cristóbal Rodríguez producing.
Johnny Puff: Secret Mission was released in select United States theaters on July 12, 2024. It’s VOD release is scheduled for July 17, 2024.
