The Crown secured the most Emmy nominations of any departing series of the last year, canceled or otherwise, leading the pack as an Outstanding Drama nominee with a total of 18 nominations for its final season, which debuted in two parts in November and December of last year.

In addition to further nominations for Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress (x2) and Guest Actress, The Crown was recognized for its production design, casting, cinematography (x2), contemporary costumes, directing, period or fantasy/sci-fi makeup (non-prosthetic), original score, sound mixing, special visual effects, and writing.

HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty came in second place with five nominations, with the premium cabler’s Curb Your Enthusiasm , the long-running, improvised comedy from Larry David, securing four nominations, including in the categories of Outstanding Comedy and Comedy Actor, on the heels of its May finale.

FX’s well-liked Reservation Dogs also claimed four nominations, including its first-ever nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, with Hulu’s How I Met Your Father landing two. Netflix’s The Brothers Sun , HBO’s The Idol , and Max’s sitcom The Other Two received one apiece.

To date, Netflix’s The Crown has won 21 Emmys from 69 nominations, whereas Winning Time received just one prior nomination for cinematography in 2022. Surprisingly, Curb Your Enthusiasm has won just 2 Emmys from 51 nominations. Reservation Dogs was only previously nominated once, for its sound editing in 2023, while How I Met Your Father has previously scored five nominations, winning in 2022 for cinematography and editing. While The Other Two secured a comedy writing nom in 2023, neither The Brothers Sun (which premiered this year) or The Idol (which premiered last June) was ever previously nominated.

This year’s Primetime Emmys will take place at the Peacock Theater downtown on September 15.
