One of the two box culverts in eastern Saline County dislodged by heavy rains and flooding earlier this month will soon have a replacement in place.

At Wednesday morning’s Saline County Commission session, Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden announced that crews will begin the process of replacing the box culvert on 260th Road near Thompson, outside Orearville.

A second roadway, on 225th Road near Poplar north of Arrow Rock, remains closed.

Elsewhere in the county, the Melody Avenue Bridge over the Rock Creek is set for replacement next month, two years after it failed inspection.

Gooden estimates the county’s cost for the replacement bridge at over $80,000.
