Reservation Dogs is finally getting some Emmy love in its final season.

The FX/Hulu comedy, co-created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi, has long been a critical favorite, picking up recognition at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, Spirit Awards and Writers Guild Awards. Emmy nominations, though, have remained elusive — until Wednesday morning.

The show was recognized in the best comedy series category for the 2024 Emmys , competing alongside Abbott Elementary , Curb Your Enthusiasm , Hacks , Only Murders in the Building , Palm Royale , The Bear and What We Do in the Shadows .

D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai was also nominated for lead actor in a comedy series, along with nominations for picture editing for a single-camera comedy series and cinematography for a single-camera series (half-hour) for a total of four nods. Reservation Dogs has only received one Emmy nod before this year, when nominated for sound editing in 2023.

The series, which follows a group of teenagers (Woon-A-Tai, Devery Jacobs, Lane Factor and Paulina Alexis) coming of age on a Native American reservation in Oklahoma, aired its third and final season in the fall.

“I always knew what the end of this story would be, I just didn’t know when it would arrive,” Harjo wrote on Instagram last summer when announcing the third season would be its last. “As we continued to break stories and write scripts this season, it became clear to the producers, Taika and me that the season three finale is the perfect series finale.”

In addition to Reservation Dogs , FX had a particularly strong Emmys morning, with recognition for Shogun , The Bear , Fargo , Feud: Capote vs. The Swans , What We Do in the Shadows , Welcome to Wrexham and American Horror Story: Delicate .

The 76th Emmy Awards will broadcast live on ABC on Sept. 15 from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live and stream the next day on Hulu.
