Want to be a PA corrections officer? The DOC is hiring

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – If you want to be a corrections officer in Pennsylvania, the Department of Corrections is hiring for positions in Clearfield, Somerset, and Huntingdon counties.

For interested applicants, the DOC is hosting a job fair on July 23, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Quehanna Boot Camp, located at 4395 Quehanna Highway in Karthaus, Penn.

Interested applicants only need to be 18 years old to apply for corrections officer trainee positions after the DOC lowered the minimum age requirement from 21 this year.

In the past, applicants were also required to be Pennsylvania residents, but the DOC now has a waiver for the residency requirement for corrections officer positions at all of the Commonwealth’s 24 state correctional facilities.

The DOC is encouraging people to apply to positions prior to attending the job fair, but interested applicants do not need to register or schedule an appointment to attend the job fair.

Job fair attendees may have to pass through a security screening to enter the facility. No drugs or weapons are allowed on the property.
