A Gadsden County man is facing federal charges after threatening on social media to kill President Joe Biden and several Secret Service Agents, who he referred to using racial slurs.

Court documents, which were signed this week, say Jason Patrick Alday, in his "late 30s," is facing charges of threatening communications, threats against the president of the United States and threats against federal officials.

Alday's arrest comes days after former President Donald Trump was injured during an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

According to an affidavit in the case, a Secret Service Agent shared social media posts and events in June and July of this year in which Alday threatened to kill Biden and federal law enforcement officers.

In June, Alday reportedly spoke with a health care provider, saying he didn't like President Biden and that he wanted "to kill him, slit his throat."

The person reached out to the Secret Service in Tallahassee, where she spoke with another agent to share her experience. This agent, accompanied by deputies from the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office, visited Alday at his parent's home.

A senior special agent "asked Alday if he made any statements about the President of the United States," a report said. "Alday denied making the statement (but he) became agitated with the line of questioning and stated he does not like the President of the United States."

Soon Alday began taking his frustration to X, the social media platform, where he posted several remarks against the president and the agent who visited him.

"Sources: Joe Biden's health is declining rapidly. Not doing too good at all. Should I finish him off?" he reportedly wrote in one post. Alday also used a racial slur in his posts against the agent.

Alday's mother shared that he suffers from schizoaffective disorder, ADHD and that he is bipolar and on the autism spectrum but that she ensures he takes his medications.

A judge still determined that "no conditions can be imposed to reasonably ensure the safety of the community," ordering Alday held until trial, which has not been set.

Alday was appointed a federal public defender; Elizabeth Linda Ballejo could not be reached as her voicemail was full on Wednesday.
