Two travel agents from London reported missing by family members are feared to be the men found dead inside a burnt-out car in Sweden .

The families of Juan Cifuentes and Farooq Abdulrazak had reported them missing after they failed to return from a business trip to Scandinavia .

The bodies, reported to have gunshot wounds, were found inside a car it is believed the two men had hired, after firefighters were scrambled to the scene of a blaze on a dirt road in the Fosie industrial estate in the coastal city of Malmö on Sunday.

An "urgent" social media appeal was posted on Tuesday revealing Juan, 33, and Farooq, 27, both said to be from Finchley, north London, had gone missing.

Laura Cifuentes, sister of missing Juan, told The Sun: "There's no confirmation. There's no confirmation that they've been shot. The bodies are still being identified.

"They were meant to return home and it was meant to be a short business trip."

She added that there's "probably [a] 99% chance" that the bodies are those of her brother and his friend, but said the two families will wait for official confirmation from the Swedish police.

A Met police statement said: “We continue to liaise with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to establish if the deaths of the two men in Malmo , Sweden, are related to two men reported missing in north London on July 15.”

It is believed that the two men flew to Denmark on Sunday and rented a car at Copenhagen Kastrup airport before driving across over the Oresund Bridge to Sweden where their burnt out car was found in the city on Malmo.

Earlier Rickard Lundqvist, press spokesperson for police region South, confirmed that there was an investigation - but said there was no suspect at present.

Police only identified that the victims were not Danish 'since it was a Danish-registered car'.

Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet later reported that the victims were British.

Meanwhile police in the country confirmed they are working with foreign police on the case.

Aftonbladet reported on Wednesday that two British businessmen feared murdered had flown from Heathrow airport to Copenhagen's Kastrup airport.

At Kastrup, one of the two Britons is said to have been photographed when he rented a car - the same car that was later found burnt out.

A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson said: “We are supporting the families of two British men reported missing in Sweden and are in touch with the local authorities.”A spokesperson from the Swedish police said: “The two people who were found dead in a burnt-out car on Sunday afternoon have not yet been identified.“The bodies are being examined by forensic medicine. The incident is currently being investigated as a murder.

“Several witnesses have been interviewed and the police are interested in further observations and tips.”
