Lala Kent Does a ‘Full Worldwide Background Check’ on Everyone She Dates

Lala Kent can surely be applauded for doing things her way. And despite claiming to have softened over the years after processing a breakup from ex-fiancé Randall Emmett , she’s fierce when it comes to protecting her heart.

The Vanderpump Rules star shares daughter Ocean with Randall. She’s also pregnant via intrauterine insemination. Lala has a complicated situation. So she wants to make sure a potential partner isn’t adding to the chaos.

How does she do it? Lala recently admitted to getting “full worldwide background checks” on any potential dates. Here’s what she had to say.

Lala spoke about the effectiveness of the checks; “I’m still single”

Lala spoke about how she vets potential matches during the July 12 episode of the Why Won’t You Date Me? podcast. It’s an effective process, but has also made dating “extremely hard.”

“I do a background check on everyone I date now,” Lala revealed. “Like, full worldwide background check.”

“How much is a background check?” host Nicole Byer asked.

“Oh, you know, a couple thousand bucks…” Lala answered.

The price is worth it for her peace of mind. Lala has been open about her emotional trauma from Randall’s infidelity, among other issues.

In one case, a potential match lied about being a homeowner.

“There was this guy that I was super into, and he claimed that he owned his home,” the Give Them Lala podcast host explained. “And when the background check came back, there were no homes to be owned ever at all.”

“And I’m like, ‘That is so not a big deal,'” she added. “But it shows that you lie.”

Lala clarified that the man’s material status did not matter to her. It was more to do with his honesty.

“Like, I don’t care if you rent or own,” she said. “And, by the way… you randomly brought it up, and you’re lying about it.”

The investigations include any past arrests, criminal charges, and even parking tickets. It’s a thorough process that has eliminated many candidates.

“And, I mean, I’m still single, so not many have passed the background check,” Lala joked.
