Sand Springs couple sentenced for sexually abusing 2 children

SANDS SPRINGS, Okla. — A Sand Springs couple was sentenced for the 2023 sexual abuse of two children.

The U.S. Department of Justice said 34-year-old Shawn William Gossett was sentenced to 30 years in prison, followed by lifetime supervised release.

Gossett's wife, 36-year-old Amanda Nicole Bynum, was sentence in May to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

In 2023, Gossett pled guilty to abusive sexual contact with a child under 12 and child abuse. He admitted to having the sexual contact with two children under 12-years-old.

Bynum admitted to enabling and witnessing Gossett sexually abusing the child victims.

The U.S. Department of Justice said both child victims are citizens of the Choctaw Nation. Gossett and Bynum will remain in custody until transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
