In the previous chapter of Chainsaw Man, Control Devil Nayuta’s severed head was sighted on one of the sushi conveyor belts. While Barem Bridge continued to talk coldly with Denji, the sushi restaurant was filled with commotion. In Chainsaw Man chapter 171 , released on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, Denji finally notices Nayuta’s head, and the Hero of Hell returns to unleash chaos.

Chainsaw Man chapter 171 was titled “Special Division 5”. The issue begins when Denji sees Nayuta’s head on the sushi conveyor belt and utters her name instantly. Everyone else looks at him in disbelief when they realize whose head it is.

However, a cold and unbothered Barem does not so much as look at Denji. He continues eating and coldly apologizes to Denji. Barem admits he has been downright cruel for what happened to Nayuta but excuses his actions, stating it was done to save the world.

As Barem brings a bite of sushi near his mouth, Denji grabs his throat. This prompts Barem to attack Denji with his exposed intestines. Barem attacks Denji, wrapping his entrails around Denji’s neck to suffocate him.

However, an enraged Denji detaches Barem’s neck from his body as Asa Mitaka and War Devil Yoru watch in utter shock. While Barem’s entrails spread throughout the restaurant like wildfire, everything on the conveyor belts flew around.

Soon enough, the manga reveals Denji unleashing his devil form, manifesting Chainsaw Man. As Barem’s body hits the floor, Denji looks up to see frightened commoners fleeing the restaurant.

What happened in Chainsaw Man chapter 171?

The chapter reveals that an anonymous individual has been keeping an eye on Chainsaw Man. Someone announces that they have spotted the “target,” the “eyeless black Chainsaw Man.” This is followed by two units from the Special Division, Devil Extermination Division 1 Team A and Devil Extermination Division 2 Team B, being dispatched to commence action.

With the arrival of the Special Division, a Public Safety officer announces the former’s “big debut.” He watches the scene using binoculars while the chapter reveals one devil after the other.

The first devil has two downward horns and no eyes, while the second wears an eerie smile and stares with his peculiar eyes. The third devil has wrinkles on his body and two huge ears but no eyes or nose, while the fourth one has spiky hair.

Furthermore, half the face of the fifth and the last devil looks like an alligator while the rest of their face is human with a lifeless, scared eye. As the issue reveals all the devils, the Public Safety agent announces their motive.

Chainsaw Man chapter 171 ending spoilers

The agent says their performance will determine whether they are protected as members of Public Safety. If they fail to deliver an optimized performance, they will be branded useless devils. Additionally, the agent says their job is to ensure they harm the Chainsaw Man. They can attack him in any capacity as long as they fulfill their duty.

The agent further says that it is okay if the devils cannot kill the Chainsaw Man as long as they manage to keep him from leaving the premises. If they successfully do so, their actions will be recognized by the Public Safety unit.

The Public Safety agent bribes the fiends and says that they should survive. He also promises to treat them to as much booze and sushi as they want. With this, the officer announces this team of devils as the Special Division 5.

As he commands them to commence the operation, he marches forward while the rest of the devils follow him. The last panel of the chapter shows Denji standing behind the unit in the middle of a demolished building, already staring at them as they march forward to hunt him down.
