Dollar Generals pop up everywhere without warning. Seriously, the town I used to live in literally has 4 Dollar Generals in it; I don't know how they all stay in business, but they truly seem to be thriving.

Maybe they're able to stay in business because they run frequent, genuinely good sales on things all over the store. People will flock to the nearest store and clean them out, wait a few months, and rinse/repeat. It's genius, and on Tuesday, July 16th, one TikToker let everyone know about their latest pet supply sale:

Coupon Queen Em is very kind for sharing these with us. I might just have to scout out all of the 100 Dollar Generals near me!

Dollar General is a real meme on social media: they pop up all throughout rural towns, and therefore, encounter a lot of rural shoppers. For example, not too long ago, a goat ended up getting loose from a farm and went right there . Maybe she wanted to catch the sales!

According to Em, Dollar General will be holding a sale across their stores nationwide on all pet items: any items with a yellow clover on the tag are 90% off. Apparently, not all of the items that are part of the sale are pet items, but most of them are pet related: there are leashes, treats, toys, and even pet-related birthday items!

Are Dollar General's Pet Items Good Quality?

People are sometimes skeptical of dollar store pet products; they worry about the quality, especially of things that dogs put in their mouths.

Some pet toys you can find at dollar stores do contain higher levels of potentially harmful chemicals, especially at stores like Dollar Tree where a lot of what they sell is their own brand. Dollar General typically has both some in-house branded items and bigger brands/higher quality dog toys.

Most toys at Dollar General are pretty general; they don't sell many toys specifically made for chewers , shredders, etc., but rather, just... toys. Most of them would be no match for an animal who is determined to destroy them, but at 90% off, that's not too much of an issue.

Whenever your dog is playing with a toy, no matter how "good" the quality is, you should be supervising them, and you should dispose of toys that are torn or missing pieces. If you don't stay vigilant, you could be paying the rest of that 90% and more at the emergency vet!
