MINOT, ND ( KXNET ) — The Behavioral Health Division of North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) is inviting people to its booth during the North Dakota State Fair to learn about Parents Lead.

Parents Lead is an evidence-based prevention program that helps parents, other adults, and caregivers by giving them resources to support the behavioral health of kids.

Parents, caregivers, and trusted adults are the number one influence for kids and play a critical role in supporting them.

According to a news release, the booth will be there every day in the Commercial II building from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“We truly enjoy connecting with parents and community members throughout the week,” said the Administrator at the Behavioral Health Division, Sara Kapp. “Parents can utilize the tools and resources to support their children’s behavioral health through daily conversations and engagement in the midst of their busy lives.”

The booth will have interactive, family-friendly activities, and a photo booth to capture the moment. Resources featured include the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and other related prevention treatments, as well as recovery-oriented programs.

“The State Fair is a great opportunity to celebrate our state together while promoting essential behavior health resources,” Kapp continued. “It’s crucial to make these resources known and accessible, as they can significantly enhance the well-being of individuals and their families.”

If you go to the booth, you can also get free Narcan — a medication that temporarily reverses an opioid overdose along with training on how to use it.
