Dogs and their human siblings are often inseparable. They're the best of friends, and the dog would never dream of hurting their tiny human companion. However, a lot of the time, dogs are unaware of their own strength, and things can get out of hand.

On Monday, July 15th, one Cane Corso's play session with his baby brother crossed the line  just a bit. Accidentally, he knocked him over, but he didn't want to get in trouble, so he decided he need to fall, too:

Drax the Corso's hilarious attempt to mask his accident is perfect in every way. It reminds me of being in high school and saying, "we can't get in trouble for not studying if we ALL fail the test!"

Drax loves his baby brother, that much is clear from the TikToks posted to his account. This video was also a little bit of a throwback; the tiny human is a little bit bigger now, and Drax has learned to navigate not barreling into the baby as often as he can. That doesn't change the fact that, in this video, he definitely did barrel right into that baby, and to cover his tracks, he ended up pretending to fall over, too.

No one here was hurt, and the two of them are still best friends. Drax obviously didn't mean to hurt his brother, and he didn't; he just knocked him over onto his bottom. It was definitely a teachable moment, and Drax has learned to be a little more careful, but that's just about all you can ask for!

How to Keep Babies Safe Around Big Dogs

The prospect of having a baby is terrifying enough: there's a pile of goo that you have to care for now, and lots of things can hurt them, which is bad. The last thing you want to have to worry about is the idea that, now, there's also a huge dog prancing around!

Rehoming a dog should be a last-resort option, and something you should figure out long before the baby is born. As long as your dog isn't incredibly aggressive or reactive, they can typically learn to live with (and even like!) babies, if you:

    1. Get a kid-friendly breed if you suspect you'll ever want to have them.
    2. Introduce them to the idea early. Show them your belly, and play baby crying noises in the months leading up to the birth so they're not alarmed by the noise.
    3. When the baby is born, bring home a blanket/hat/something else that smells like them so the dog can sniff it.
    4. Introduce them slowly, under heavy supervision. Let the dog see, hear, and smell the baby - but try to avoid licking.
    5. Be stern. Let the dog know where the boundaries are!

For Drax, his human sibling has officially reached an age where the tables have turned, and now it's the toddler's turn to learn how to be gentle. In the end, they'll all be better for it!
