Enes Kanter Freedom says Trump would be ‘dunking on’ Biden in basketball showdown

MILWAUKEE — Former President Trump and President Biden have sparred over their golf game, but Enes Kanter Freedom says there would be a clear winner if the two White House contenders went head-to-head in basketball.

“I think former President Trump’s got it for sure,” Kanter Freedom told ITK on Tuesday with a laugh.

“He’ll cross him over, jump over him, dunking on him,” the 32-year-old former Boston Celtics center said of Trump’s potential pickup game prowess.

Rather than hoops, Biden and Trump have been engaged in a war of words over their putting skills in recent weeks after bickering over golf handicaps during last month’s presidential debate.

Biden at the time challenged Trump to a golf match “if you carry your own bag.” Trump returned the dare at a campaign rally earlier this month, calling an 18 hole-game a chance for Biden to “redeem himself” after the commander in chief’s disastrous debate performance.

ITK caught up with Kanter Freedom outside the Republican National Convention at the Fiserv Forum, his first time at such a gathering.

“I mean, obviously my last name is Freedom and I think coming here, seeing all these patriots who care about freedom, that definitely touches my heart,” he said of the experience.

Kanter Freedom said in 2021 that he became an American citizen because the country welcomed him in after he was targeted by his native Turkey’s government. He added the second word of his last name in honor of his American citizenship.

“It’s amazing,” the outspoken athlete said of his time at the convention. “And it’s going to be my first time voting after becoming a citizen. So I’m definitely excited.”

“Everybody knows that I stand for freedom, democracy around the world,” he said.

Kanter Freedom, who has expressed an interest in running for public office, said he was “meeting with some important people” at the convention and “trying to come up with ideas of what we can do to help people around the world.”
