Last month, Yellowstone fans got the news that the show was finally returning this November. However, the announcement didn’t come with many details. So, many viewers were left wondering if Lainey Wilson would return as Abby for the second half of the show’s fifth and final season. Things are still technically up in the air but it looks like the “Watermelon Moonshine” singer will return to the show.

Over the weekend, Wilson attended the Twisters movie premiere because she was featured on the film’s highly anticipated soundtrack. While there, Entertainment Tonight correspondent Cassie DiLaura caught up with the reigning ACM and CMA Entertainer of the Year. During their brief chat, she asked Wilson about her future involvement in the hit show.

Will Lainey Wilson Return to Yellowstone?

“Have you gotten the call from Taylor Sheridan to go back to Yellowstone because they are deep in production?” she asked Lainey Wilson. “I can’t wink but I’m doing something with my eye right now,” she replied. “It’s good news, I’ll tell you that,” she added.

“Honestly, I don’t know exactly when they’re going to start back up,” she admitted. Then, Wilson explained that things are still up in the air. “The truth is, we’re trying to make sure we have enough time to get in there and get it done because we’ve still got a lot going on right now,” she said. “But it’s a priority,” she said of working on Yellowstone.

Wilson then revealed that she hadn’t seen the script for the final episodes of Yellowstone. She went on to say that Sheridan keeps the scripts “close to his chest” until it’s time to go to work.

Earlier this year, Wilson sat down with American Songwriter to talk about her whirlwind year. During the conversation, she opened up about her future on Yellowstone. “A couple of years ago when we were filming, my schedule was crazier than it is now,” Wilson explained. “We were probably playing a hundred and sixty-something shows. This year, we’re not playing that many shows. I think we’ll be able to figure it out. She added that Sheridan knows her career comes first and is good about working around her touring schedule while filming her scenes for the series.
