    National Night Out returns to towns across Napa County

    The annual collection of community gatherings hosted by law enforcement agencies, National Night Out, is returning to towns across Napa County on Aug. 6.

    The 41st annual community-building campaign starts on the first Tuesday of August across thousands of communities across the U.S. and Canada.

    With activities like parades, festivals and block parties, local agencies taking part in National Night Out are able to seek and promote safer communities and build ties between law enforcement and the people, according to event organizers.

    “National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community,” the National Association of Town Watch, which created the event in 1984, said in a statement.

    Night Out gatherings will be hosted in Napa, American Canyon, Calistoga and St. Helena on Aug. 6, and on July 31, Yountville will host its inaugural Night Out.

    Here are details for the upcoming gatherings:

    Napa

    The free event will feature appearances from the Napa County Sheriff’s Office and the Napa Police Department. T

    here will be formal presentations and the opportunity to have conversations with law enforcement and fellow neighbors.

    There will be games for children, along with food, ice cream and cold drinks.

    4-7 p.m. at Napa Valley College, 2277 Napa Vallejo Highway

    American Canyon

    For American Canyon’s Night Out, things are different, as residents in various neighborhoods throughout town host an array of block parties for the community.

    The American Canyon Police Department, American Canyon Fire Protection District and American Canyon officials will be in attendance, and will make their rounds to connect with the community.

    City mascots, including Lobo, the city police mascot, Marshal, the fire protection district mascot, and Soro, the Parks and Recreation department mascot, will be there in support as well.

    6-8 p.m. with block parties in various neighborhoods

    Calistoga

    The Calistoga Police Department, first responders and other community organizations will be at the park to meet with residents to discuss how to build strong community relationships, according to the event’s news release.

    The event will be hosted alongside some food, activities and fun.

    5-8 p.m. at Pioneer Park, 1308 Cedar St.

    St. Helena

    Residents can enjoy their Night Out right at City Hall, and meet and speak with St. Helena Police Department officers, firefighters from the St. Helena Fire Department and city government officials.

    Other organizations scheduled to be in attendance include Napa County’s Office of Emergency Services and its American Medical Response team, as well as Napa NEWS, Up Valley Family Center and Monarch Justice Center.

    Activities, food and community resources will be available.

    5-8 p.m. at St. Helena City Hall, 1088 College Ave.

    Yountville

    For the first time, the City of Yountville will be participating in its own National Night Out, with a packed schedule of eight different block parties throughout town.

    There will be activities for all ages, including games, music, potluck dinners and more.

    5-8 p.m. July 31 with block parties in various neighborhoods:

    Yountville Community Center BBQ Area

    North Yountville — Jefferson Street (between Madison and Monroe).

    Crossroads Condos — Clubhouse/Pool Area

    Old Town — Webber Street off Yount Street

    Washington Park — Forrester Park

    Heritage — Harvest Court

    Rancho de Napa — Clubhouse

    Bella Vista — Pool/lawn area
