Dont paint it! Fix it! Here are the steps: ➡️ Fill with Mohawk Epoxy Putty ➡️ Sand smooth with 220 grit ➡️ Sand the rest of the area and stain (if applicable) and add your first layer of top coat. I used @Minwax Wipe On Polyurethane. You can also use this method if you’re not refinishing the entire area, just tape off the surrounding area when sanding and skip the first layer of top coat. ➡️ Start building the coverage with Mohawk Blendal sticks in layers making sure to seal with a light coat of Mohawk’s pre-cat lacquer between each layer ➡️ Add a tiny bit of Mohawk toner (I used the shade Medium Brown/American Walnut) to further blend if needed ➡️ Once dry seal with the oil based top coat of your choice and enjoy your newly repaired furniture! TikTok creator and furniture refurbish expert Erin, also known as @refurbishedish , has wowed her followers time and time again with her incredible furniture flips. She is able to take the most boring piece and transform it into a timeless work of art. But she doesn't just post her successes, she also helps us out by sharing some of her best tips. When it comes to flipping advice, she is definitely one of our favorite creators.

Erin is a huge believer in fixing wood furniture as opposed to simply painting over it. So in this video she explains the basics of the process and how she switched from painting over wood to actually fixing it.

The Number One Product for Fixing Wood Furniture

If there's one product you need to begin your wood repair journey, it's wood putty.

When it comes to hiding imperfections in wood veneer, wood putty, or "adult Play-Doh" as Erin calls it, is going to save your piece every time.

Simply knead and roll your wood putty before smearing it onto the damaged area. Erin recommends overfilling any gaps to ensure that every nook and cranny is covered.

Next, sand it down with 220 grit sandpaper once it's dried. After adding her first layer of topcoat, Erin then goes in with her blending sticks from the brand Mohawk to replicate the wood grain herself. Lastly, she adds one more layer of top coat. You'll never know the piece was damaged in the first place!
