Concerns involving voting security become a major focus at the GOP convention

PANAMA CITY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – Donald Trump claims the 2020 election was stolen from him, which resulted in a massive recount in a number of states, election workers being threatened, and charges against Trump and others for trying to overturn the election.

As well as a mob take-over of the capital building to prevent the certification of the results.

The former president has already said that only cheating will stop him from winning this year.

Senator President Ben Albritton hosted a breakfast for the Florida delegation. There were many speakers, but a common thread was kept throughout the conversation. Election integrity.

Albritton said Florida has taken strides to gain more confidence in elections.

“Number one, election integrity is a process. It isn’t an achievement. It isn’t where you get to a place where you say, well, it’s completely secure because people that want to cheat will always be trying to figure out a way to cheat,” Senate President Ben Albritton said.

Albritton said he doesn’t believe there is widespread election fraud in Florida.

“The idea there are widespread election fraud or election integrity problems in Florida I struggle with because that is clearly if you look at voter registration, there’s a clear translation from the voter registration in Florida to what you are seeing, for elected officials in Tallahassee,” Albritton added.

“If it’s a blowout, that means there ain’t a recount,” Florida CFO Jimmy Patronis said.

Which is what CFO Patronis is hoping for.

“Bay County pulled off an amazing election cycle when our county was destroyed by Hurricane Michael so we understand the importance, the value of the vote, the importance, the integrity, the vote,” Patronis said.

Mark Anderson retired after several terms of serving Bay County faithfully. But Bay County has a new supervisor of elections who Patronis said he has faith in.

Nina Ward is the new supervisor of election here in Bay County. Ward has already scheduled several tests of voting equipment prior to the primary.

The first one takes place on July 30th.
