It looks like Dustin Rhodes, the older brother of reigning WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, could be available in free agency in the fall.

Cody Rhodes will forever be connected with AEW. The current WWE superstar was one of the founders of the company and played a major role backstage until his departure in 2022. However, his brother Dustin has also been a valuable asset in his own unique way.

The former WWE and WCW star has played a role as one of several greybeards on the roster imparting his decades of experience to the next generation. And surprisingly, at the very ripe age of 55, he is still a rock-solid performer in the ring. It gives him a unique value that many companies around the world would be interested in and he could test that value soon.

Earlier this week, the multi-time WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team champion confirmed a recent rumor that his contract with AEW expires in September. Yet while those rumors claimed he could walk away from the business when his contract ends, Rhodes made it clear his wrestling career is far from finished.

“I am absolutely NOT DONE,” Dustin Rhodes wrote on X. “Having the best matches of my life and hopefully, God willing I will get to retire on my own terms, respected with a full heart. Hopefully, negotiations go well because I am damn worth the world. The only things that matter to me are: taking care of my family first and foremost, finishing up when I am ready, and how I envision my retirement.”

It will be interesting to see how AEW handles contract talks. In recent weeks they have let other aging veterans like Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy walk instead of signing them to new deals. They may do the same with Rhodes.

Which would be the question of returning to WWE to join his brother Cody Rhodes . But the company seems to be going away from using much older talent. Nevertheless, if open to the idea, he could be a precious asset in NXT as a wrestler-coach.

There is also the possibility of going to promotions like TNA or NWA. A pair of promotions would be interested in using his name value.
