During the March 11, 2022, episode of SmackDown, Ridge Holland gave Big E an overhead belly-to-belly suplex on the floor, which unfortunately resulted in the former WWE Champion landing on his head. Not long afterward, Big E would sadly confirm that his neck was broken, and since then, he hasn’t been able to compete. However, as time passes, there is always hope he will be able to resume his career, and now, while appearing on Getting Over , he has shared an update, noting his C1 isn’t healing as required, although he has recently undergone stem cell treatment.

“The only issue is my C1 is healing fibrously, which is great for normal day-to-day life, but it’s not turning into new bone. It’s not ossifying yet. And so they’re not going to clear me until that happens. It’s obviously a very important bone. So right now, that’s kind of the waiting game. I did go down to Cancun about a month ago for stem cells. So we’ll see if that changes anything. But yeah, right now, I feel great. It’s just, I’m not in a position to be cleared quite yet.”

Following the dreadful injury, some so-called fans bombarded Holland with hate, holding him responsible for potentially ending Big E’s career. However, Big E has repeatedly emphasized that Holland was very remorseful and requested fans not to hold it against him. Yet, some still harass the former Rugby League player on X about this, and after he accidentally injured Elton Prince last year, he even deactivated his account rather than deal with the backlash.
