New Cold Cup at Select Starbucks Locations Is About to Be a New Obsession

The new beverage container craze is here. And Starbucks is the culprit!

Apparently the popular coffee company is testing out some new cups for their to-go cold drinks and the Internet is going wild for the new design. While the cup might not be available in every store yet, customers are sharing videos of the product online, gathering the test even more publicity.

TikTok creator Baylie ( @heybayhey ) was not expecting her most recent video reviewing a potential new Starbucks cup to go viral but her video quickly racked up nearly 2 million views in just one day! Clearly people had a lot of thoughts and feelings about this possible change.

While iced drinks at Starbucks usually come in the classic clear plastic cups with the sippy cup lid, apparently the coffee chain is testing out a new container and people have a lot of feelings. Baylie ordered her classic iced chai and was surprised to see it come out in, not the traditional plastic cup, but a new white paper cup with a dome lid and paper straw.

When Baylie posted her experience online, coffee fans went wild, saying that they had never seen these before and creating reason after reason for why they don't like this new design. And honestly, Baylie is with them.

What Did People Have to Say?

In a follow-up video, Baylie explained that although she understands the environmental benefits of the paper cup, she prefers the look of the plastic. Her viewers were definitely in agreement.

"How am I supposed to tell if it's the right color?" wrote @tiffanydesotel. "Noooo I hate using straws I want my sippy cup," commented @hands_in_the_mitt.

Starbucks has not released any information on this new cup so Baylie thinks the brand is testing out the design in a few different stores.

A lot of her comments were from Starbucks baristas themselves who have never even heard of this redesign! They were completely caught off guard.

"As a barista this is news to me," commented @mryder213.
