General Hospital fans are wondering if this long time character could be newly introduced as Gio's real dad.
On Wednesday's episode, a conversation between Carly and Lois about Gio has viewers questioning who his true father is. Lois began telling Carly about Gio's parents, Camilla and Francis Palmeiri, after Carly talked about hearing from Brook Lynn that Sonny, who is Gio's uncle, paid for his music education. Camilla was an Italian violinist who came to America to play for the New York Philharmonic. Camilla fell in love with Francis, they had a "whirlwind romance" and married before he got deployed to Afghanistan. He was killed before she could tell him about being pregnant with Gio.
Sonny happened to be there and made sure Camilla was okay in the aftermath of Francis' death. Camilla went back to playing with the NY Philharmonic and helped Gio begin his music education studies, but she died when Gio was 10. Lois reached out to Sonny when she died, and Sonny agreed to pay for everything for Gio, music lessons and education. Carly said she understood that Sonny he is a "generous" man but she "didn't understand why Sonny never mentioned Gio" to her.

Fans took to social media with possible theories. After that conversation, it made them wonder if Sonny might be the father of another character on the ABC soap. One fan on the Reddit thread for the July 17 episode wrote: "Are they going with Gio being Sonny's since Carly finds it weird that he never mentioned Gio." A fan said on X formerly Twitter: Gio’s father is identified as a rando no one knows? No way, right? This is a soap that found a way to get Nina pregnant with Willow and Nelle. Gio has nothing going on. At least a paternity story comin, right?" Another said: "So Lois is acting shady AF. Are we going to find out that Sonny is Gio’s dad? NO. Unless Brenda is his mom, then hell yes"
Giovanni, aka Gio, first came onto the show on May 16 for Brook Lynn (his cousin) and Chase's wedding which he played the violin for. Since his debut, he ha been a consistent character that's been hanging around Joss and Trina. Now in this episode he expressed to Joss his desire to stay in Port Charles since Lois shared she got him a music gig back home in NYC.
