Biggest Dragons in House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones - Ranked

There are many different dragons in House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones , but which one is the biggest?

Thankfully, Twitter user @Westerosies has put together an infographic showcasing every single dragon that has ever appeared in HBO’s fantasy drama, so you can see at a glance each one’s size.

As you can see, the biggest dragon to appear is Vhagar, as ridden by Aemond Targaryen. Vhagar is named for one of the gods of Old Valyria. In the books, it’s mentioned that its throat is large enough to ride an entire horse down it. Its colour is bronze, with greenish blue highlights and bright green eyes

However, Vhagar is not the biggest dragon in Westeros. That honor goes to Balerion, a black-skinned beast that outdoes it in both size and mass. Nicknamed The Black Dread, in the books it’s said Balerion’s wingspan was so large that his shadow could engulf entire towns when he passed overhead. His teeth were as long as swords, and he could swallow a mammoth whole.

As for the smallest dragon, that’s the so-called Last Dragon, a green female, who lived in King's Landing. Born to House Targaryen during the reign of King Aegon III Targaryen, she laid a clutch of five eggs, but they never hatched.

See the full infographic below, which includes every dragon ever mentioned in both the books and the two HBO series, from Syrax and Verax to Seasmoke to Drogon. And check out the House of the Dragon star cast in Blade Runner 2099 (it’s not a dragon).
