A bridge over the Rock River along Interstate 80 is being patched, according to a news release from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).

IDOT announced that construction will begin Monday, July 22 on eastbound Interstate 80 over the Rock River in Rock Island and Henry counties, weather permitting. Workers will patch the bridge deck. One lane will be closed on the bridge during the project, which is expected to be completed by Friday, July 26 by 3 p.m.

Drivers can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Alternate routes should be considered to avoid the work area. Drivers are urged to pay attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey posted speed limits, avoid using mobile devices and watch for workers and equipment.
