White Cockatoo Stealing a Donut From the Vet Has Absolutely Zero Regrets

When I leave this world, I want to be reincarnated as a cockatoo specifically. They literally do not care, ever, about anything anyone has to say. They will always find a way to do what they want, and if you say something to them, they will literally talk back to you.

A prime example of cockatoo privilege was posted on TikTok on Monday, July 15th. He was caught red-clawed swiping a donut from one of the vets at the clinic, and he was unabashedly enjoying his stolen snack:

He is just full of it today! Although the person bought them for the staff so.. #vetmed #work #cumulusthecockatoo #forbiddensweets #sneaky

Cumulus is one of the best "employees" at Fix Chix Rescue. He deserves a donut for his hard work!

Cumulus lives at the rescue/vet clinic that this account's owner works in. They have several birds there "on staff," as well as some they're only holding until they can be adopted. Cumulus was brought in as a rescue; he wasn't kept in very good conditions in his first home. No matter: now, he's treated like a king and all is well.

This king is quite the thief, if we're being honest. His mom has captured him shredding slips of stolen paper and even going through drawers to find his favorite pens! He's a little bit out of control, but that's okay; it's a small price to pay for his incredible personality and epic TikTok following of over 300,000 people. He's brought tons of positive attention to the rescue!

Bread and Birds Are Not Best Buds

As awful as we may feel about it now, I think every human in the world has fed a bird a piece of bread before. We think we're doing them a kindness : they're hungry, and we're feeding them, and bread is bread. Our intentions were always good, right?

Unfortunately, birds should not be fed bread . It holds little nutritional value for them and the pieces can be very filling: the bird eats bread and believes it's full, but the food it's eating provide no actual nutrients. Deficiencies can lead to life-long problems and even death, especially in "beggar birds" who consume human table scraps as the majority of their diet.

Bread is naturally higher in sugar than birds should be eating, which can also lead to obesity. If you're looking for a fun snack for a pet bird or even food for a wild one, try offering them fresh vegetables like peas and corn . They can also eat different types of seeds, which can make for an excellent foraging exercise! Luckily for Cumulus, a few pecks at a donut won't hurt, and if he starts to feel a little wonky, he's always at the vet!
