A new Fallout Season 2 update has been given by the creators of the hit series, which just recently racked up 16 Emmy nominations.

Speaking to Deadline, series creators and showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner opened up a bit about the second season, which they said they’re working on now. Robertson-Dworet noted that the pair are “having a blast with it,” though, and will look to dive even deeper into the world of Fallout in the new season.

“The crazy thing about making Season 1 is that you have eight hours to adapt a franchise, in which there’s thousands of hours of gameplay to draw from, and it just means that you have to leave so many of your favorite pieces of the mythology behind,” Robertson-Dworest said. “So we’re honestly just excited to get to be able to dive deeper into it and show audiences more of this incredible world.”

What do we know about Fallout Season 2?

Wagner chimed in and revealed that “there’s more to be done” about exploring the world of Fallout, and that they’ve only just scratched the surface.

“We barely scratched the surface of the world of Fallout in Season 1, and it feels like in Season 2 we’re getting another scratch in, but there’s more to be done,” said Wagner.

Fallout’s first season starred Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean, Aaron Moten as Maximus, Kyle MacLachlan as Hank MacLean, Moisés Arias as Norm MacLean, Xelia Mendes-Jones as Dane, and Walton Goggins as The Ghoul.

“Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have,” the synopsis for the first season reads. “Two-hundred years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind – and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.”

All eight episodes of Fallout Season 1 are currently available to stream on Prime Video. A release date has not yet been set for Fallout Season 2.
