Cucumber recall due to potential listeria contamination

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Wiers Farm Inc. of Ohio has recalled some of its whole cucumbers and prepackaged salad cucumbers due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes , the FDA announced last week.

The farm is recalling whole cucumbers packed on June 5, 2024, and prepackaged salad cucumbers packed on June 5 and 6, 2024.

These products were distributed to Walmart stores in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.

There have been no reported illnesses or complaints regarding the cucumbers, but Listeria monocytogenes can cause potentially fatal infection if you come into contact with it.

The product was not grown or harvested by Wiers Farm, but was instead sourced from out of state, then handled and distributed by the farm. The contamination was discovered by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development via routine sampling.
