The Ninja Air Fryer Saved Me From a Dinner Party Disaster — And Now I Use It for Everything.

It’s the last day of Amazon Prime Day, but the home , fashion , and beauty deals are still hot, hot, hot! During our extensive coverage of the sales, I spotted a particular kitchen device that I constantly recommend to my friends at $100 off, and it recently saved the day when my oven was out of commission.

Let me set the scene: It’s the night before my boyfriend’s birthday and I’m planning on surprising him with his favorite cake and a handful of his best friends. Candles were purchased, batter was mixed, and I open the oven to slot in my pan when I notice it never preheated. It was broken. Oh, the charms of New York City living. But if there’s one thing this town has taught me, it’s how to think on my feet. I look around my kitchen and my eyes land on my Ninja Air Fryer — “worth a shot,” I decided.

Luckily, I purchased mini-size pans that fit into the baskets, so I immediately submerged myself into TikTok research to see whether it was possible. Turns out, plenty of people had experimented with air frying baked goods, and after my own nail-biting trial run, the Ninja bake setting actually baked my two-tiered cake evenly in under 30 minutes. It’s the adult Easy Bake Oven!

Ninja Air Fryers and I go way back — all the way back to college days when they weren’t exactly allowed in my dorm room. The smaller version ( that’s also on sale for Prime Day!) followed me from campus to my first apartment and regularly fed me with quick meals when I was drained after a long day of classes. The beauty of Ninja Air Fryers is that they take up about the same counter space as a microwave, but they do the same job as multiple appliances combined; It’s got six settings that air fry, bake, roast, reheat, air broil, and dehydrate, plus it’s got two baskets that allow you to cook a main and side dish on different settings simultaneously.

The air fry mode is my go-to if I need to reheat and crisp up leftovers like pizza or burritos, and I don’t even touch my oven anymore if I want to thaw and cook frozen food. It significantly cuts down on cooking time if I want to roast a lot of veggies, and even has the capacity to cook an entire chicken 30 percent faster than a regular oven, according to the brand. It’s seen use in my kitchen during every major food holiday, including the Fourth of July where I served up a platter’s worth of beef and veggie burgers in under 20 minutes.

All the Prime Day deals are making me wonder if I need another, but after several years it’s still running like new, even after everyday use. Consider the rare price drop your cue to discover what you’re missing out on — or a glowing opportunity to gift a college student an amazing lazy-cooking appliance ahead of the new semester.
